About the artwork
"Puerto Rico Awareness Poster" (2010) is a work by Bureau of the Census. About the period around 2010: Painting, drawing, photography, installation, and digital tools now sit side by side, and artists work within a global network of exhibitions and online audiences. Digital files are increasingly a normal part of how new work is made, shared, and collected. The catalogue places it in Vintage Posters. The format is landscape. Background on Vintage Posters: Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and later modernist design each left a recognisable poster style. Colour lithography in the 1890s turned the illustrated poster into a major art form, and cities such as Paris and Prague became centres of poster design.
"Puerto Rico Awareness Poster" is shown in the onlly.art catalogue for reference and browsing. A landscape format suits wide, low wall spaces such as the stretch above a bed, mantel, or sideboard. Browsing works by the same artist, or from the same period, is a good way to compare styles before choosing what suits your space.
