NICHD 35th anniversary (1998)

This page presents "NICHD 35th anniversary" (1998), created by National Institutes of Health. Vintage Posters in brief: Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and later modernist design each left a recognisable poster style. Colour lithography in the 1890s turned the illustrated poster into a major art form, and cities such as Paris and Prague became centres of poster design. Historical background, 1998: Photography, film, and print culture became part of the language of art, and artists across the world developed their own responses to modernism. The range of materials widened to include acrylic paint, screen printing, and mixed media. The catalogue places it in Vintage Posters. The format is portrait.

A portrait format suits narrow wall spaces, hallways, and the area beside a door or window. If you are unsure about size, measure the wall first, then pick a frame whose proportions follow the image. Choosing a standard frame size and printing to fit it often saves the cost of custom framing. Screens and printers render colour differently, so a small test print is a sensible way to check tones before committing to a large size. Matte and fine-art papers reduce glare in bright rooms, while glossy papers give stronger contrast and deeper blacks.
