Frankenstein (1977)

"Frankenstein" (1977) is a work by Jim Thorpe. About the period around 1977: After 1945 the centre of Western art activity shifted to New York, where Abstract Expressionism was followed by Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptual art. Photography, film, and print culture became part of the language of art, and artists across the world developed their own responses to modernism. It is listed in the Vintage Posters collection. The image is in portrait orientation. Background on Vintage Posters: Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and later modernist design each left a recognisable poster style. Colour lithography in the 1890s turned the illustrated poster into a major art form, and cities such as Paris and Prague became centres of poster design.

A portrait format suits narrow wall spaces, hallways, and the area beside a door or window. If you are unsure about size, measure the wall first, then pick a frame whose proportions follow the image. Matte and fine-art papers reduce glare in bright rooms, while glossy papers give stronger contrast and deeper blacks. Hang the print away from direct sunlight, which over the years can fade any printed colour. Choosing a standard frame size and printing to fit it often saves the cost of custom framing.
