50 jaar kinderboekenweek (2004)

Dated 2004, "50 jaar kinderboekenweek" is an artwork by CPNB. Context for 2004: Digital files are increasingly a normal part of how new work is made, shared, and collected. Art made from the year 2000 onward belongs to the contemporary period, which is defined less by a single movement than by a wide range of concerns and media. The catalogue places it in Vintage Posters. The format is portrait. Vintage Posters in brief: Colour lithography in the 1890s turned the illustrated poster into a major art form, and cities such as Paris and Prague became centres of poster design. Posters announced theatre, travel, products, and events, combining image and lettering to be read at a glance from the street.

Everything for "50 jaar kinderboekenweek" arrives digitally: Digital JPEG + PDF files, 300 DPI. Once payment is confirmed, an email brings the download link, and from there you decide how to print it, whether at home, at a print shop, or through an online service. A portrait format suits narrow wall spaces, hallways, and the area beside a door or window. Matching the frame to the image proportions avoids cropping. Screens and printers render colour differently, so a small test print is a sensible way to check tones before committing to a large size. Matte and fine-art papers reduce glare in bright rooms, while glossy papers give stronger contrast and deeper blacks. Choosing a standard frame size and printing to fit it often saves the cost of custom framing.
